Alan Dextradeur
Founder

Alan has worked in the medical device, design and manufacturing field for over 25 years.  He specializes in the LifeSciences and Medical Device Industry and provides a broad range of services from New Product Innovation and Development to Strategic Product Portfolio Management.  He offers specific expertise in the discovery, design and development of surgical implants, instrumentation and electromechanical medical devices, including navigation of worldwide projects through regulatory submissions to commercialization.

Alan received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in Manufacturing, from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and started his career at Brimfield Precision Inc., an O.E.M engineering and manufacturing company specializing in healthcare products. He rapidly gained experience across three separate product focused business units; General Instruments, Implants and Minimally invasive Surgery, and supported the development of the Dyonics® ACL Alignment Guide System, Acufex 3mm Rotary Basket Punch, Dyonics® 2.5mm Suction Punch and U.S Surgical Corporations Surgical Stapling Instruments.

 

After 5 years with Brimfield Precision, Alan took on the first of many positions at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), starting out as a project engineer in the Orthopaedics business, leading teams in developing implants and instrumentation for Total Hip Replacement. He progressed via the J&J International Development Program, becoming Manager of Research & Development l in the United Kingdom, where he established multi-disciplined project teams tasked with all phases of the design and manufacture of orthopaedic implants and instruments on a world-wide basis, and provided technical support and training to its European Sales organization.

In 1998, Alan accepted the first of many leadership roles with Codman & Shurtleff, division of J&J’s DePuy Inc.  Operating as Codman Neuro, Alan gained a great deal of experience in hydrocephalus, critical care, pain management, drug-device combinations and aneurysm treatment, having developed products in each of these areas. He was a key member of the R&D integration teams for bringing both the Cordis Neurovascular and the Micrus Endovascular businesses into the Codman family.

In 2017, Integra LifeSciences enhanced its position as a leading global provider of neurosurgical products by acquiring the Codman Neurosurgery Business.  As a Senior Manager with Integra, Alan led the Global Electrosurgical franchise to successfully launch a new Electrosurgical Generator and Irrigation Module whilst supporting the acquisition of Rebound Therapeutics; developers of single-use medical devices that enable minimally invasive access for visualization, diagnostic and therapeutic use in neurosurgery.

Alan’s patent portfolio consists of over 100 WW granted patents (25+ Families) covering technologies spanning Modular Implantable Prosthesis Systems, Implantable Drug Delivery Systems, Antimicrobial Catheter Implants and Wireless Pressure Sensing Valves.
