PROJECTS

Neurovascular Guidewire
The function of steerable guidewires is to provide a method to access selected locations in the vasculature and maintain that access to perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
The NEUROSCOUT™ 14 Family of Guidewires provides excellent tip shaping
and shape retention, precise torqueability, optimal lubricity and enhanced radiopacity characteristics for physicians.

Preventing Distal Catheter Obstruction
Distal obstruction of ventriculoperitoneal shunts is a major problem in the treatment of hydrocephalus. To avoid this complication, a winged device was designed to retain the distal catheter to the falciform ligament, in the right subdiaphragmatic space, to prevent catheter migration and distal obstruction.

Intracranial Pressure Sensing
The most common treatment for hydrocephalus is the surgical insertion of a drainage system, called a shunt. An implantable telemetric pressure sensor with an external reading unit enables the surgeon to non-invasively monitor the intraventricular pressure of a shunted patient to determine if the shunt setting is correct and if the system is functioning properly to aid in the optimization of the treatment of hydrocephalus.

Bipolar Forceps
Bipolar Forceps are intended for use in electrosurgery for coagulation of tissue. This project entailed delivering a family of disposable bipolar forceps with exceptional non-stick coagulation, precision dissection and visualization performance within one year of project charter.
